Day 28 of 28: Metter, GA to Tybee Island, GA (Coast to Coast Reflections)

85 Miles / 5:05 in the saddle / 1,965 feet of climbing

What a finish today! I started the day riding with the big group out of Metter, then rode solo for a while in the sunshine listening to music before getting caught in a huge rainstorm. About 8 miles from the finish, I flatted — fitting, in a way, after nearly 3,000 miles, the Vermont guys and Jacki stopped to help me out, and we rolled the final stretch together.

Reaching Tybee Island was pure joy. We celebrated on the beach, took in the moment, and later gathered for a team dinner and banquet. I believe I have made some friends for life and definitely would consider doing another tour with PAC.

It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to finish this ride. From San Diego to Tybee Island — 2,935 miles in 28 days — the numbers tell one story, but the experience tells another entirely.

This journey has been a lesson in faith, gratitude, and persistence. There were days I felt strong and days I was concerned if I would finish the tour. But every morning I’d get back on the bike and found what I needed — sometimes in a tailwind, sometimes in meditation, sometimes just being in God’s creation, and sometimes in a friendly word from someone back home.

I averaged 104.9 miles and 4,150 feet of climbing per day, rode at 15.5 mph, and spent nearly seven hours in the saddle each day. The road tested me plenty — headwinds, rains, five flats, a broken spoke, a new tire, sore body parts—but in the big picture, those were small things compared to the gift of being able to ride every day.

When I finally reached Tybee Island and rolled my bike into the Atlantic, it was almost overwhelming. Every sunrise, every hill, every mile of headwind and heat, all led to that moment. I thought about all the people who made it possible — and all the reasons I started this ride in the first place.

Julie, thank you for meeting me in Georgia and being with me for the last stretch. Your encouragement and love have carried me through so much more than just these miles. Now it’s time to rest a bit, reflect, vacation and let it all sink in.

To my family, friends, church family, cycling community, the PAC Tour crew, and everyone connected through my work — your support, donations, and prayers kept me moving forward when I needed it most. I can’t thank you enough.

It’s been an honor to ride for Marion Medical Mission and Kids’ Chance of Michigan, two organizations that change lives every day. I hope this ride helps shine a little more light on the incredible work they do.

Standing in the ocean at the end, I realized that every single mile mattered — every challenge, every joy, every bit of it. This was more than a bike ride; it was a journey of faith, purpose, and gratitude.

Thank you for following along and sharing this adventure with me. I will update again when we have our final fundraising numbers—this ride has been a true blessing!
