Landed in San Diego—but my bike is still in Detroit!
I’ve made it to San Diego! The only catch? My bike hasn’t — it’s on the next flight and should be here soon. A little extra suspense before the ride begins, but nothing that can’t be handled—part of the reason I planned to get here a few days before the ride starts
This past week has been full of final packing, last-minute details, and plenty of excitement as the countdown ticked down. Now that I’m here, the focus shifts to settling in, getting the bike ready once it arrives, and preparing for the 28 day ride.
On the fundraising front, we’ve passed the halfway goal mark!
28 Wells in 28 Days
Goal: $13,300 (28 wells)
Raised: $6,320 → 13.3 wells funded so far!Wilfred’s Field Officer Salary
Goal: $8,200
Raised: $6,714 → just $1,486 to go!Kid’s Chance of Michigan
Goal: $7,500
Raised: $1,670 → every mile will help grow this scholarship fund.
That means in total, we’ve raised $14,704 — just over 50% of the overall goal—thank you!
It’s humbling to think of the impact this will have: 1 well will help over 100 people have clean water wells bringing life and health to villages in Africa for years, and scholarships giving kids a chance at a brighter future through Kids’ Chance of Michigan.
Thank you for your prayers, words of encouragement, and support. I am looking so forward to starting this ride—the 5,000+ miles I have ridden in southeastern MI this year have become a little monotonous.
Thank you to Julie for getting me to this point in my training and journey—never, ever could have gotten this far without her! I would love to post a picture of her from this morning, but that was a no go for sure—I love you and will miss you Julie!
