Day 21 of 28: Indianola, MS to Kosciusko, MS
Today’s ride was 101 miles, 5 hours and 39 minutes in the saddle, with 2,372 feet of climbing.
I rode the first 25 miles with a big group, then shared a few segments with Dennis, and later with Steve, Kim, Billy and John. The fourth segment I rode solo, and I was able to finish strong.
The second half of the day brought rolling hills, but also more beautiful weather—we’ve truly been blessed on this journey. With only 7 days left, I felt my strongest today. It also felt good to get in a little earlier—I even fit in a swim, caught up on laundry, and will have some extra time for recovery.
Tomorrow will be extra special. My lifelong friend, Mike Scott, is driving to Alabama from Michigan to meet me for dinner and will join me on the road Thursday morning. Mike has been a part of every high and low in my life, and he’s the one who introduced me to long-distance riding when we were young teenagers—24-hour marathons, and rides to Chicago, Milwaukee, Mackinaw, and Niagara Falls. Great memories, and I’m grateful we’ll get to create another one this week.
I also heard today that we’ve now raised enough money to cover 31 wells with Marion Medical Mission! That’s clean, life-changing water for over 3 thousand people. Please consider donating—we truly are making a difference together.
Thank you and enjoy your evening! Way to go Tigers!
