Day 3 of 28: El Centro to Blythe, CA

Today was our first ride over 100 miles103 miles in the desert—beautiful sand dunes! I rode with Steve, Kim (he is fast and smooth) and Jacki for some of the day and rode with the 4 Vermont guys for the 1st time just before and after lunch—nice guys and great cyclists. The winds were in our favor for most of the day which helped us roll a little easier—a few hills, but nothing like Wednesday’s ride.

We finished in Blythe with the thermometer reading 95! I had an ice sock on my neck for the last 20 miles and it really helped keep me cooler.

I had a wonderful dinner with Julie’s mom, Gloria, and her friend Sally, who lives in Arizona. I appreciate them driving out and taking their time for a quick dinner with me.

Tomorrow morning we’ll be in Arizona early and will finish in Wickenburg, AZ —116 miles and a little climbing.

If you have been following along and have not yet, please consider hitting that donate button to support Marion Medical Mission and/or Kids Chance of Michigan. Every mile I ride is for these causes and every gift makes a difference! I should have a donation update soon—thank you!
